Cross Party Support for First Family Business Week

We have completed our first every Family Business Week, and what a success!

A total of 31 MPs supported the campaign by either posting on social media, sharing messages of support, asking PQs, signing an EDM or visiting fantastic local family businesses. In addition to this we received support from four government ministers including the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, Minister for Small Businesses, Paul Scully Northern Ireland Secretary, Brandon Lewis and International Trade Secretary Anne-Marie Trevelyan.

Family Business Week also received the support of seven shadow Ministers, including a message from Seema Malhotra, Shadow Minister for Business and Consumers.  

Rishi Sunak, Chancellor of the Exchequer shared his support for family businesses sector and the contribution they make to the economy.

Paul Sculley, Minister for Small Business, praised highlighted the important contribution of family businesses, employing over 14 million people.

The Shadow Small Business Minister shares her personal experience with family businesses and why she is proud to support family business week.

John Stevenson, MP, Chair of the Family Business APPG shared that the value of family businesses goes beyond economics. He states that “family businesses are a force for good”, providing local leadership.

The campaign also received strong regional support with messages shared by one Scottish Minister, 5 MSPsS and 3 MSs in Wales.

This was a fantastic inaugural Family Business Week. We cannot wait to build upon this excellent foundation, continuing to champion family businesses going forward as we plan for an even more ambitious campaign next year!
